Advanced Veterinary Medical Center is seeking an experienced and compassionate Evening Shift Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team in El Sobrante, California.
We are a fast-paced, multi-doctor veterinary hospital dedicated to delivering exceptional medical care and outstanding client service to our community. Our hospital provides comprehensive veterinary services including wellness and preventative care, urgent care, digital full-body and dental radiography, diagnostic medical sonography, in-house diagnostics, dentistry, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, and advanced patient care.

Position Overview
As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play an essential role in patient care, client communication, surgical support, and daily hospital operations. We are looking for a team-oriented individual with strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a genuine passion for animal care.
This is a evening shift position till 11pm, and weekend availability is required.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate and attentive care to all patients
- Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations, treatments, and procedures
- Prepare and monitor patients for surgery and anesthesia
- Perform phlebotomy, place IV catheters, and assist with radiographs
- Prepare medications and maintain accurate medical records
- Support hospitalized patient care and emergency treatments as needed
- Maintain sterile technique and uphold hospital sanitation standards
- Clean, organize, and restock treatment and exam areas
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients and team members
- Efficiently multitask in a high-volume clinical environment
Qualifications
- Previous veterinary experience required
- Proficiency in animal handling and patient restraint
- Experience with blood draws, catheter placement, and radiology preferred
- Knowledge of anesthesia monitoring and dental procedures preferred
- Familiarity with IDEXX and Neo software strongly preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Positive attitude, reliability, and ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to remain composed and professional during emergencies and high-stress situations
Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move up to 50–75 pounds, and perform physically demanding tasks including bending, kneeling, and animal restraint.
